Zuma Tours Taxi Boat & Shuttle Connections

With our Zuma water taxi, you'll save time and enjoy traveling the beautiful picturesque way as we take you from the shores of Montezuma to Jaco on our water taxi boats, crossing the Gulf of Nicoya, Costa Rica. The boat ride takes only one hour and is the fastest way to get from Montezuma to Herradura-Jaco or vice versa.

Of course, also to see the Nicoya Peninsula and its beautiful natural treasures like the beaches, waterfalls, good waves, and much more, the best way how to get to Mal Pais, Santa Teresa, Manzanillo, Playa Hermosa, Tambor, and Cabuya Towns.

We depart from Montezuma at 8:30 am, and again from Herradura Beach, just a bit north of Jaco Beach, at 10:00 am to return to Montezuma. 

You will have the chance to see marine wildlife, like dolphins, rays, sea turtles, and if you are lucky even whales during the season. 

*We will be more than happy to arrange your land transportation from Jacó to Manuel Antonio, Dominical, Uvita, Sierpe, or San José (Airport) or from Montezuma to Mal Pais, Santa Teresa, Cabuya, Tambor, or where you need to go in Costa Rica on nice AC Shuttle Vans.

*Our Zuma Taxi Boat leaves from Montezuma Beach and Herradura Beach north Jaco, ALL OTHER CONNECTIONS ARE BY SHUTTLE VANS.

*Every Boat has a roof covering about 70% of it, and we have a fleet of three-speed boats for this service with up to 40 people on the biggest one, with twin outboard engines 200hp & 250hp total, 2020 & 2021 Suzuki marine models and experienced marine crew.    

*Reservations in advance are required. (If you make last-minute bookings straight on Herradura beach with the local guys there is your responsibility, they are not part of our staff and we don't work with them for their unprofessional way of treating our customers trying to get some money, you better wait until 9:30/45 am for our uniformed drivers and guides going on the shuttle vans which are Hellen, Jose, Alberto, and Ariel, Carlos, Joshua, Wilden  arriving on the boat from Montezuma)

*Luggage: 22kg/50Lb maximum per person, normally one small and one large backpack or suitcase.

*$5 for one Surfboard, $10 for two shortboards in a case, and $20 for longboards.

*Bicycles are NOT accepted

*Pets only in a crate for $20 (but we need to know it in advance, not accepting large and wet dogs in the cars)

Salimos desde Montezuma a las 8:30 am
A las 10:00 am, de playa Herradura, al norte de playa Jaco.

*Estaremos encantados de organizar su transporte terrestre desde Jacó a Manuel Antonio, Dominical, Uvita, Sierpe o San José (Aeropuerto) o desde Montezuma a Mal País, Santa Teresa, Cabuya.

Cada bote tiene un techo que cubre aproximadamente el 70% del mismo, contamos una flota de barcos de tres velocidades para este servicio de hasta 40 personas en el más grande y una tripulación marina experimentada.

Siempre será mejor contar con reservación previa antes de tomar nuestro servicio.

Equipaje: 22kg/50Lb máximo por persona, normalmente una mochila y una maleta grande.

$5 por una tabla de surf, $10 por dos tablas pequeñas en un estuche y $20 por tablas largas.

NO se aceptan bicicletas

Mascotas solo en una caja por $ 20 (pero necesitamos saberlo con anticipación, no se aceptan perros grandes y mojados en las busetas)

 

Puntarenas, Costa Rica

Mal Pais & Santa Teresa shuttle pick-up is between 7:00 am and 7:30 am at the Hotels, villas, or hostels. We can pick you up mainly at any place on a steep hill with a 4x4 car, 10-15 minutes before the regular time, but a GPS address is required, please only pass it to us the day before. 

At 8:30 am the boat departs from Montezuma Beach to Herradura Beach (please check-in around 8:00/10), on the other side, a ten-minute drive to Jaco downtown.

Jaco downtown shuttle pick-up is between 9:00 am and 9:30 am at the hotels, condos, and hostels, or if you are coming from another place, you better go to our office located at Pacific Plaza in front of the Tangeri Hotel entrance, there's a restaurant called Pura Vida #3 next in the plaza. 

Coming by public bus?, so you can get dropped off at the bus stop of Alamo, where the buses coming from Quepos and San Jose stop, and walk one block to our office. 

*If you are coming from San Jose by bus or shuttle you better get off at Plaza Herradura and stay by Subway rest, we'll look for you there around 9:30/40 am.  

AT 10:00 am the boat departs from Herradura Beach, north Jaco.

*Please try to be ready 10 minutes before in any location.

*We're trying to do our best to leave every day on time, most days we do it, even here on these beaches without docks and gas stations close to the sea. Also always there is losing time while we pack your luggage, loading and unloading the boat, watching marine wildlife, or on days with a rough sea, so please be patient, give us a hand if needed please, and be Pura Vida!!!

En Playa Hermosa, seria a las 6.45 am.

Podemos recgerte en lugares de dificil acceso, con 4x4.

En Playa Herradura a diez minutos en auto del centro de Jaco, es mejor regristrarse a las 9:45 am.

El servicio de recogida en el centro de Jaco es entre las 9:00 / 9:20 am en los hoteles o en nuestra oficina en Pacific Plaza frente a la entrada del Hotel Tangeri.

¿Vienes en bus público desde Quepos?, puedes pedir que te dejen en la parada de bus de Álamo y caminar a nuestra oficina.

Si vienes desde San José en bus o shuttle es mejor que te bajes en Plaza Herradura y te quedes en Subway descansa, ahí te buscamos alrededor de las 9:25/35 am.

From Sierpe's dock if you are coming from Drake Bay, at 6:00 or 15:00* with an overnight in Jaco

*From San Jose or Alajuela (SJO Airport) hotels between 7:00 and 7:30 (Shuttle pick-up 2 people are required to operate this service)

*For the services from San Jose to Montezuma or Santa Teresa and back using our taxi boat service, if you are traveling alone you can make the booking still if we have no more customers we would need to charge you $50 for the private shuttle service from/to the city from/to Jaco area the day before. 


Afternoon boat departure if it's open: "13:30 boat departure from Montezuma with the check-in at 13:00, and 15:00 boat departure from Herradura-Jaco, with the pick up in Jaco downtown starting at 2:00 pm"

At 11:30 in Montezuma from Manuel Antonio.

At 11:30 in Manuel Antonio from Mal Pais.

At 11:30 in SJO Airport Alajuela, about 12:00 in San Jose downtown due to the traffic, or a bit later.

At 13:00 in Dominical or Uvita.

At 14:30 at Sierpe's dock.

Comfortable clothes, shoes/sandals you don't mind getting wet, sunscreen, and sunglasses.

*You must take with you your personal items, like cameras, laptops, phones, passports, money, etc, we'll provide plastic bags for that if needed, but we can not be held responsible for any lost things. We'll take care of your luggage in the boat's dry compartment. 

 

Our three boats are 32 and 42 feet long, powered by twin 200 hp and 250 hp top-line electronic Suzuki fuel engines.

All safety equipment (life vests, compass, GPS, radio communication, extinguishers), professional boat captain, bilingual guide, luggage transfer, ground transportation, permits, and insurance for everyone aboard.  

Luggage: 22 kg / 50 lb per person max. One carry-on and one big backpack or suitcase are allowed per person, $10 will be charged per extra piece.

$5 for one Surfboard, $10 for two shortboards, and $20 for a longboard. All of them in a Case please, it's much better, if not we can not be responsible for damages.

The extra luggage has an extra cost of $10.

Please let us know if you bring long surfboards, especially for the vans and boat size.

Drinks or Food.

Bikes are not allowed on the boats.

Pets are allowed only in a safety crate, $20 extra (we have a crate only for medium-sized and small dogs, but you have to advise us in advance so we bring it over)

**Please note that at check-in you will be asked for your ID, of which we will take a picture. That is to confirm with payment. This measure had to be taken to prevent fraud.
If someone buys the tour for you, please tell him/her to pass you an ID photo.

For really bad weather or rough sea conditions because of north winds, waves, or storms, we always have a plan B. Most of these times we leave from an inlet in Tambor Bay, delaying the service about 45 minutes.

Zuma Tours is not responsible for any lost or forgotten items in our Boats or land transportation units.

Zuma Tours reserves the right to refuse passengers on the boats or shuttle vans if the customer is under the influence of alcohol or drugs or has inappropriate behavior.

Zuma Tours reserves the right to modify or cancel any service without a refund of money due to force majeure such as weather conditions, local guerrillas, natural disasters, terrorist acts, or strikes.

**ADVICE: WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU DON'T TAKE THESE SERVICES WITH TIGHT SHUTTLE OR FLIGHT DEPARTURE TIMES, EVEN THOUGH OUR OPERATION IS SAFE AND RELIABLE ALL YEAR ROUND, THE SEA CONDITIONS WITH STRONG WINDS IN THE DRY SEASON AND WAVES IN THE RAINY SEASON, THE POOR INFRASTRUCTURE ABOUT DOCKS, ALSO THE TRAFFIC, FURTHERMORE OUR ROADS AND GEOGRAPHY, OTHER DELAYS FROM CUSTOMERS, SOMETIMES DO NOT HELP US TO GET ON TIME, EVEN WE TRY HARD.
